Working Environments Ltd has seen a rapid growth within its electrical department.
This controlled growth, employing the right personnel, forms an important part of our business strategy
and through investment in existing and new staff we can offer electrical engineering solutions to any type of building design.
The electrical engineers handling the installation work interface with their mechanical colleagues to complement the mechanical installations providing a fully co-ordinated and integrated mechanical and electrical service; therefore meeting our direct Client and main contractor needs, and procurement preferences. In-house training programmes and team meetings with our mechanical and electrical service engineers and managers ensure that our business has the precise resources to execute multi-discipline service contracts to meet the future demands of our Clients. The number of design and build contracts executed during the year continues to grow, with this type of business representing 30-40% of our current workload. Our in-house design and build department is continually expanding to meet those demands. Within our business we offer tendering on a one-to-one negotiated basis, often under some form of partnering agreement, which ultimately brings even greater benefits to the Client. Working Environments Ltd can design, install and commission electrical installations and are members of the NIC EIC (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting). Our engineers are continually attending in-house and external training seminars to ensure the highest standards are maintained throughout the team. Electrical Design ServicesWorking Environments Ltd is dedicated to providing total design solutions using innovation and experience out in the field and by researching the market place continually for new products and materials. On receipt of our Client's instruction, our design team will assign a project manager who will liaise with the Customer or their representative to coordinate all phases of the installation from initial survey/conception throughout the project until testing and commissioning. Our project manager will work closely with and advise the Customer of any potential problems with the intended installations and provide solutions prior to commencement on-site. Our project managers often work hand in hand with the Client advising on costings to ensure budgets are maintained. Our design service follows the projects through to completion and includes regular site visits to ensure the installations are being carried out to the design intent. Other considerations taken during our design process are to ensure that maintenance requirements in accordance with CDM Regulations. Testing and InspectionWorking Environments Ltd is a member of the NIC EIC which is an Independent Consumer Safety body set up to protect users of electricity against the hazards of unsafe and unsound electrical installations. The NIC EIC is the electrical industries safety regulatory body. As an approved contractor, all electrical work covered by Working Environments Ltd is required to comply with the requirements of the National Electrical Safety Standard BS 7671 (IEE Wiring Regulations) and relevant Codes of Practice and guidance documents. The inspection of portable and transportable equipment is also covered by NIC EIC. As part of the requirements of NIC EIC, inspections are carried out at random on installations by Working Environments Ltd. Also, our engineers are engaged in theoretical and hands-on training in the inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations and have obtained City & Guilds certifications. Types of certification carried out:
Data CablingOver the years, Working Environments Ltd has worked with various companies to provide the supply and installation of data cabling and associated power and containment systems from simple relocation to complex design implementation. As part of the project management, Working Environments Ltd can co-ordinate all phases of the installation works with the Customer, from an initial site survey, advice on project planning and costing through to testing and commissioning. Lighting InstallationsWorking Environments Ltd carry out design, supply and installation of many types of lighting systems both internally and externally. With the designs and selections of luminaires being based on the Client's use of the building and running costs.Over the years, Working Environments Ltd has seen an increase in the types of control for lighting systems from single stand alone controllers to sophisticated software-driven addressable lighting control systems which provide seamless flexible controls. Emergency LightingWorking Environments Ltd is regularly engaged in the design supply and installation of emergency lighting installations for new and existing Customers. The designs of these installations are carried out in accordance with British Standards BS 5266-1 : 1999, BS5266-7 : 1999 and BS EN 1838 : 1999.Types of emergency lighting systems undertaken by Working Environments Ltd include maintained emergency lighting, self-contained emergency luminaire, slave luminaires and standby lighting. As part of our design we can offer self-testing intelligent systems which can be automatically tested and results down loaded to a PC network or local panel. This system works particularly well on larger installations and removes the necessity for manual testing of systems. Fire AlarmsWorking Environments Ltd has the ability to provide Clients with the design, supply and installation and maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems in accordance with the requirements of BS 5839 : Part 1 : 2002, BS 5839 : Part 6 : 2004 (Code of Practice for Fire Alarm Systems in Buildings and Dwellings) through their sister company, Protective Environments Ltd.Working Environments Ltd can provide systems from basic manual call point detectors and sounders to fully addressable fire detection systems. Our design team works closely with our Clients to ensure that the systems provided meet with the approval of Local Fire Officers and Building Control. Careful consideration is given to the type of building in which the system is to be installed and due allowance considered and advised to our Clients for future expansion of systems. Lightning ProtectionWorking Environments Ltd can provide solutions to lightning protection systems on new and existing premises generally to BSEN 62305:2006.These systems are often surface-mounted on existing buildings where careful selection of conductor tapes (colours) and test pit locations are considered to ensure systems are unobtrusive on buildings. Alternatively, on new buildings the lightning protection system can often be incorporated into the building fabric. LV DistributionWorking Environments Ltd can provide low voltage distribution systems from or including the main incoming transformer which on some of our larger Client's sites are their property. Most of our LV distribution systems involve liaising with local supply authorities and the design, supply and installation of main LV switchboards and associated sub-main distribution boards within our Client's premises. Our works generally require the provision of all associated builder's work details, cable routing and ducts either within the building or underground. Power InstallationsWorking Environments Ltd provide small power installations from UPS systems for IT and process control equipment to general small power distribution throughout the Client's premises with the performance objective of providing reliable power supplies to Clients technical and domestic services.Mechanical Services and Control WiringWorking Environments Ltd's electrical department has many years of experience working directly with our in-house mechanical colleagues providing both the supply of building management control systems and power wiring associated with heavy plant items such as chillers, condensers, pumps and air handling equipment. Through our experience we are able to work with our mechanical colleagues ensuring that the mechanical controls equipment and locations are fully co-ordinated into the building and services. A great advantage within the plant room areas is the sharing of services bracketry, supports and containment systems to ensure space within the often restricted plant rooms is used to its maximum effect.Security SystemsWorking Environments Ltd can provide the design, installation and advice to our Clients on the types of systems available within an ever changing technical market place. Our works cover, but are not restricted to, the following types of installation:
